As African and Somali graduates from universities in Mogadishu, we understand the importance of finding new income-generating sources to uplift ourselves and our communities. We have heard about investment funds such as Turkiye TIKA, AFDB, IFC, and UNDP that could potentially help us in our endeavors. However, we lack the necessary funding to kickstart our business ideas.

Working with the local government in Mogadishu, specifically the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development (mop.gov.so) and the Ministry of Finance (mof.gov.so), could provide us with the support and funding we need to turn our entrepreneurial dreams into reality. By collaborating with these government entities, we can access resources and expertise that will enable us to create job opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of our country.

Our background in various areas, coupled with our determination and drive to succeed, makes us well-equipped to take on these challenges. We are ready to put our knowledge and skills to good use and make a positive impact on our society.

To secure the funding we need, we have prepared a comprehensive business plan that outlines our goals, strategies, and financial projections. Our plan includes an executive summary, company overview, problem and solution analysis, target market identification, competition assessment, product or service offerings description, marketing tactics, timeline, and metrics for measuring success.

We are confident that with the right support and resources, we can make a significant difference in our community. We hope that the local government in Mogadishu will recognize our potential and provide us with the necessary funding to realize our business ideas and create job opportunities for ourselves and others.

We urge the government to consider our proposal and support us in our quest for funding. With their assistance, we believe we can achieve our goals and contribute to the development of our country. Thank you for considering our request.

The first phase of our journey involved completing our studies and earning our degrees, and now we are poised to enter the second phase, which includes access to funding for job creation.

In a challenging job market like Somalia, where opportunities are limited and competition is fierce, the support of the EU funding program is invaluable. As fresh graduates, we are working closely with the Somali government to explore avenues for job creation in various sectors such as engineering, medicine, human resource management, public administration, agriculture, economy, and finance. The Untapped Potential of Data in Africa's Economic Development

The Untapped Potential of Data in Africa's Economic Development

The exponential growth in the amount of data processed globally has presented both challenges and opportunities, particularly in the context of Africa's economic development. As Somali diaspora living in Norway, we have observed the eagerness of brilliant Norwegian female finance professionals to contribute to solutions for the economic challenges faced in Mogadishu and other parts of Africa.

One key area where data can play a transformative role is in understanding supply and demand dynamics, as well as purchasing power trends within African markets (Aker & Mbiti, 2010). This information can inform marketing strategies and drive the development of products and services that cater to the unique needs of African consumers (Aker & Mbiti, 2010). Additionally, data on income-generating incentive mechanisms and local currency stabilization can aid in the development of sustainable economic policies (Aker & Mbiti, 2010).

The critical need for development in certain areas of the African economy is evident, and data-driven solutions can be the key to unlocking this potential. By leveraging the expertise of finance professionals and the wealth of data available, the Somali diaspora and their Norwegian female counterparts can collaborate to create innovative strategies that address pressing economic challenges in Mogadishu and beyond (Aker & Mbiti, 2010).

Mogadishu, the capital city of Somalia, has faced numerous challenges over the years, including political instability, conflict, and poverty. In recent years, efforts have been made to strengthen local governance and promote public participation in decision-making processes. However, there is still much work to be done in order to fully engage citizens in governance.

One important aspect to consider when presenting Norad and Norfund initiatives in Mogadishu is the role of local guides, chiefs, and clan elders. These individuals are often seen as key influencers in the community and have deep knowledge of local customs and traditions. Engaging with them can help build trust and establish meaningful relationships with the local population.

In addition to engaging with local leaders, it is essential to review the existing frameworks and legislative provisions that guide public participation in local governance in Mogadishu and the surrounding regions. Understanding the legal and policy context is critical in order to effectively navigate the local governance structures and ensure that initiatives align with national priorities.

Furthermore, it is important to assess the existing platforms and mechanisms for public participation in local governance in Mogadishu. This includes examining the accessibility and inclusivity of these mechanisms, as well as identifying any gaps or barriers that may prevent meaningful citizen engagement.

Civil society and other non-state actors also play a crucial role in enhancing citizen participation in local governance. These organizations can serve as intermediaries between the government and the community, helping to bridge communication gaps and promote transparency and accountability in decision-making processes.

Based on our assessment of public participation in Mogadishu, we recommend several policy strategies and mechanisms to enhance citizen engagement in local governance. This may include the establishment of community forums, the implementation of participatory budgeting processes, and the promotion of civic education and awareness campaigns.

In conclusion, presenting Norad and Norfund initiatives in Mogadishu requires a deep understanding of the local context, customs, and governance structures. By engaging with local guides, chiefs, and civil society actors, and by assessing existing mechanisms for public participation, we can work towards creating more inclusive and participatory governance processes in the city.

OUR STORY

NORAD (Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) and Norfund (Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries),

As university graduates in Mogadishu, Somalia, we are faced with the challenge of finding employment opportunities in a country that has been ravaged by years of conflict and instability. Job creation is crucial for the development and prosperity of our country, and one way to address this issue is through the establishment of a landing platform specifically aimed at creating employment opportunities for university graduates in Mogadishu.

In order to successfully establish a landing platform, there is a need for funding to cover various costs such as capital, labor, and utilities. The fixed capital costs include the initial investment required to set up the platform, while labor costs are necessary for the hiring of staff to manage and operate the platform efficiently. Utility costs involve expenses related to electricity, water, and other essential services required to keep the platform running smoothly.

Additionally, there are other costs associated with the operation of the landing platform, such as collection, compliance enforcement, discovery, billing assessment, valuation, and graduate engagement. These costs are essential for the effective functioning of the platform and ensuring its sustainability in the long run.

We would like to express our gratitude to Norway for considering our active interest in job creation for university graduates in Somalia. Through our communication with NORAD (Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation) and Norfund (Norwegian Investment Fund for Developing Countries), we hope to secure the necessary funding and support to establish the landing platform and create much-needed employment opportunities for our fellow graduates.

In order to ensure effective public participation in the establishment and operation of the landing platform, it is important to assess the guiding legislative frameworks for public participation in Somalia. This involves understanding the laws and regulations that govern public engagement in decision-making processes and the extent to which citizens can actively participate in shaping policies and programs that affect their lives.

Furthermore, it is crucial to assess the existing platforms and mechanisms for public participation in local governance in Mogadishu. This includes evaluating the accessibility and effectiveness of various channels through which citizens can voice their opinions, provide feedback, and actively engage with local authorities in decision-making processes.

Civil society and other non-state actors also play a significant role in enhancing citizen participation in local governance in villages and districts in Somalia. These organizations can mobilize communities, raise awareness about key issues, and advocate for the rights and interests of citizens, including university graduates seeking employment opportunities.

In conclusion, the establishment of a landing platform for job creation in Mogadishu is a crucial step towards addressing the unemployment crisis faced by university graduates in Somalia. By securing funding, assessing legislative frameworks, enhancing public participation, and engaging with civil society organizations, we can work together to create a sustainable and inclusive platform that will benefit our society as a whole. Thank you for considering our proposal and supporting our efforts to build a brighter future for all graduates in Mogadishu.

In order to ensure that the talents of the local population are effectively harnessed, it is crucial for the government to establish a conducive environment that promotes public participation in decision-making processes. This can be achieved by implementing legislative frameworks that empower citizens to voice their opinions and contribute to the development of their communities.

Furthermore, existing platforms and mechanisms for public participation in local governance must be assessed and strengthened to enable citizens to engage with their government effectively.
